Blogging after a long time..
In school now, just had lunch after lesson ended at 12.30pm. So fulfilled in today's lesson (for once, after 5 lessons), i understood the HRM (Human Resource Management) lecturer's 2 1/2 hours of chanting.. wahaha...
Today, we went through Psychological Contracts. It is a "contract" that is created in each individual's mind about what he or she expects from a relationship with another person.
There are generally 2 kinds of contracts: Transactional & Relational.
In Transactional contract, it is understood by the both parties that their relationship will end after what they are put together to do is finished. So what they expect from this relationship will be different from Relational contract, where relationship is open-ended.
In Transactional contract, people follow according to written terms and regulations, and they will not do beyond what is demanded (therefore they are also required to do what is expected of them) and their contribution is equal - employer pays, employee works. They are not expected to be loyal.
In Relational contract, both parties invest in each other, do beyond what is expected to them, contribution initally may be unequal but because of trust, it is expected that the party that contributes lesser will balance the scale of contribution in later part of the relationship (e.g. employee does overtime work, go beyond his job scope on his own accord & expects the manager to value his contribution and increase his pay in near future) and loyalty is expected.
Something interesting here is that.. even though this is a "contract" created by the perception of an individual's mind - it can be breached. The contract the two parties in a relationship have may be different - one may perceive it as a transactional, then the other, relational. Therefore in the beginning, fixed a common understanding between two parties.
When one party feels that promises made in the beginning are not fulfilled, the psychological contract is breach. The breach may (or may not) developed in the party feeling violated.
That's about what I have leant today. If you understand, you are smart.. or perhaps I explained well.. hehe.. if you don't understand.. mada mada dane..
